Miyako Nakamura

3D CG artist, scientific and medical visualization

Stardust Ambassador, Japan

Miyako Nakamura is a Japan-based 3D CG artist specializing in scientific and medical visualization.

She studied Agricultural Chemistry at Okayama University and has spent more than 20 years working in chemical and life science research. Throughout her career in industry and academia, she has worked as a research specialist in organic synthesis, protein crystallization, chemical biology, cellular imaging, and scientific data analysis. She has authored her own research publications and contributed as a co-author to multiple peer-reviewed scientific papers.

Today, she combines her scientific expertise with digital artistry to visualize the invisible worlds of cells, molecules, and the human body. Through 3D animation, virtual reality (VR), and immersive fulldome films, she explores a wide range of scientific subjects, including neuroscience, immunology, regenerative medicine, and molecular biology. Her work also includes scientific animations for universities, research institutions, and biotechnology companies, as well as cover artwork for scientific journals.

Her fulldome film, The Epic of Life – Inner Being, received both the Judges' Special Award and the Audience Choice Award at the 14th Dome Festa in Tokyo in 2025. The film was also screened in Hungary in 2026, marking a further step in her international activities.

As a Stardust Ambassador representing Japan, her focus at Stardust 2026 is "Space × Human Body." Through scientifically accurate and accessible 3D CG animations, she aims to explain how the space environment affects the human body, particularly the changes and responses that occur at the cellular level.

By bringing together science, art, and education, she seeks to reveal the fascinating world of life that is normally invisible to the human eye. Through immersive visual storytelling, her goal is to inspire curiosity and deepen public understanding of both space and life sciences.
