Photography, filming and the stream at Stardust events

What we record at an event, where it may appear, and how to say no.

# Photography, filming and the stream at Stardust events

Stardust events are photographed, filmed and streamed. This page says plainly what that

means for you, so that ticking a box is an informed choice and not a formality.

What we record

Talks, panels, the career fair, the Challenge presentations and the awards evening are

photographed and filmed. Main-stage sessions are streamed live and worldwide, and the chat

beside the stream is visible to everyone watching.

Where it may appear

Recordings and photographs may appear on Stardust Odyssey, on stardustinc.ca, on our social

media accounts, in reports to our partners and funders, and in press coverage of the event.

Recordings of main-stage sessions are kept for members to watch afterwards.

Your choice, and it is a real one

You may say no. If you ask not to be photographed or filmed we give you a marker to wear,

our photographer and our crew are given the list before the doors open, and we ask any press

in the room to respect it. You can still attend everything. Saying no changes nothing else

about your day.

Two honest limits. We cannot promise that you will never appear in a wide shot of a full room

or in the background of someone else's photograph, and we do not control what other guests or

accredited press publish. If you appear in something of ours and want it removed, write to

shifa.z@stardustinc.ca and we will take it down.

If you are under 18

You do not answer this yourself. Your parent or guardian decides it when they give consent for

your Stardust account, and whatever they chose is what we follow. If they did not allow

photography, you are on the do-not-photograph list automatically.

Speakers and presenting teams

If you speak or present, your session is recorded and the recording is yours to use as well

as ours.

Looking after the recordings

Photographs and recordings are held by Stardust. The list of people who asked not to be

photographed is used for that event and nothing else, and is not shared outside the crew and

the photographer working that day.
